Antique Silver For Sale.
Solid Silver and Hallmarked Silver candelsticks, platters, waiters, coffee sets, tea sets and more. Antique silver is a terrific investment and something beautiful to own. Holloware, bowls, pitchers, jugs, etc are currently commanding higher prices by weight than flatware, which is often the first investment made by new buyers.
Buyers are also becoming much more interested in the history of their silver, so look for pieces that have provenance or strong links with historical figures, places or times. Pieces with good, clear and legible marks make the best prices and stained, dented, holed or pieces in a generally bad condition will be overlooked by the serious collector.
Watching the experts at antique roadshows, you probably wonder just how they get so much information about an antique simply by turning the item upside down.
The Victorian Design Registration Mark or Kite Mark was used between the years 1842 and 1883.
